I sat down an made a list and coincidentally, by the time I had finished, there were 15. Perfect!
From these areas of focus, I have created timed goals, made my plan, and broken them down in to smaller steps, that will make up my list of things to do each week.
Having these to work from really help drive me each day, because I know what i need to do when I sit down to start – the planning is already done.
So much more effective compared to when I would sit down to start my day and faff around checking my emails, checking FB, posting FB, seeing if anyone had engaged with my FB, then noticed that the washing machine had finished, so hang out the washing, and have morning tea! NOT PRODUCTIVE.
So here they are:
CLARITY
When I first started my business, despite thinking that I had clarity, I didn’t. I learnt that you could always go deeper, so this is my focus for this year. To get crystal clear. It’s one of the building blocks to balance, focus, productivity, product development – just about everything. It’s key, so if I don’t have things clear enough, all of these things, and more will suffer.
STATS
I know some of my stats, but not all, and I need to keep them all in one place, so that I can track my growth (for better clarity!). You know this, I know it, but it has been one of those things that hasn’t actually been done yet.
(I actually set this up last night, so am already on track with this one)
BEING MYSELF
I think it’s really important that you get to know me, and know who I am and how I roll, so I will focus on ways I can share more of myself with you. Look out!
Creating Regular Content
I have made a public commitment to record and post my blog weekly, and I stay committed to that. I won’t feel guilty if I don’t get to do it for some reason though – life happens!
(Last week I had a 2 day conference, so I didn’t get it out till Sunday. I’m OK with that.)
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
One area of my business that I LOVE, and that I have had on the back burner is one on one coaching, and building systems that support others through saving time and creating freedom to do the important stuff. So that is definitely a BIG focus for me this year!
INCOME GENERATION
Of course. I want more of a steady income from my business, so building something that allows me to work steadily and within my boundaries is very high on my list, and totally do-able.
GETTING HELP
Everyone needs support and advice – even coaches. From my experience, work at home mums are so isolated, and generally only have online relationships (depending on the business), as our friends don;t really get what we do. Having a mentor or some support is essential, and something that I started to invest in last year, and now will build it into my business as a key element of my success.
ENGAGING in GROUPS
Further from my previous point relating to isolation – connecting in groups is SO important. We all need to connect on some level! Now, this doesn’t come easily to me and I really need to work on it, because the friendships and contacts I have made in the past are valuable to me, so I need to push myself out of my comfort zone and build more!
A GREAT START TO THE DAY
I have 5 things in the morning that I try and tick off, and when I get all 5 done, it’s a Magic Morning! They are things that I love, that make me feel good, and that set me up for better focus when I do sit down to work.
LETTING GO
I’m also working towards letting some things go that aren’t helping me, or are holding my back. This will involve some outsourcing, but also cutting back in other things at home. I still need to nut this out, so sounds a little vague, but it’s something I need to ponder on further!
SYSTEMS FOR FREEDOM
There is freedom in systems. They save time, they are efficient, and they leave your brain free to do thinking – not just store information! For me, this focus is also about GOING PRO. Taking the next step in my life and business – stepping up. Systems in my family life and business are actually what I love, and I know that the times I have these working well, I am ON FIRE! When I don’t, it’s not pretty – and that’s when the procrastination, whirling thoughts and lack of clarity appear, so they are definitely a saviour for me.
TURNING 40
Eeek! I would love to lose a couple of kilo’s for this milestone, as I seem to still be carrying some extra bags of oranges from my last pregnancy.
I’m not too concerned about turning 40 yet, but I think there will be more time for reflection on this later.
SELF-CARE
More specifically, my number 1 goal related to self care is to go to bed earlier. When I achieve that, I am more focused the next day, have more energy, and can start the day with my Magic Morning, so setting myself up so that I can do all of these things need extra planning.
TRIPLING MY LIST
Building my list is again related to building my business, but it is important for me to offer something of value for those lovely mums that sign up for my list. It’s a continuous cycle of feedback, creation and re-offering, whilst offering insights. Easier said than done, but a worthy stretch goal for me!
WEBSITE TWEAKS
I go through phases of spending time on my website, and then leaving it for a while, and due to that ad-hoc approach, in the past it has seemed a little fragmented, and lacking clarity. My focus this year is to make it smoother, update some plug-ins and pop-ups, and go with the ‘less is more’ strategy. (Not easy for me!)
The one that isn’t on the list is FAMILY. That’s because it’s ALWAYS my focus, and is my driving force, my motivation and my purpose. xx
