online business mumsWhen we’re working, it’s go, go go, all the time, because we need to make the most of the time that we have available to do work.  The problem with this is that it becomes so much more difficult to achieve work life balance – it’s hard to switch off, and we work till the very last minute before picking up the children, or  getting other jobs done.

But, if you think about it, the best ideas usually happen when you’re not working.  They happen when you are doing something else (usually something that feels good, like exercise,) or are just allowing your thoughts to float around.

Forcing your mind to be creative RARELY works.

The best ideas happen when your brain is free of pressure, and is allowed to FLOW.  The only way that happens is to have a BALANCED approach to your work.  In order for the good stuff to appear, you need down time as well as focus time.

Watch Episode #5 of Business and Balance for Online Mums to find out what I do to get my best ideas, and why it’s a good idea to take the foot of the pedal – to achieve more of that work life balance!

So, here’s a reason to NEVER feel guilty about having some down time again!

Next time you’re go, go, going, step back afterwards and give yourself some down time.  Try going for a walk, listening to music, going for a drive….

Or if you know about this Formula for Flow, let me know what you do to get the creativity flowing!
