When I first started out in my business, there was SO much information.
I didn’t know what I needed to keep, so I usually kept it all – just in case!
The problem with this is that it had to go somewhere…..
I have notebooks FULL of resources, ideas, references, brainstorming, and they are all filed away. I had sticky notes in piles. I had a kitchen benchtop with paperwork, notes, to do lists…. and it made my brain cluttered.
I’m not just an entrepreneur, I’m a mum, and a person, so there’s not just business information I needed to save, file, or remember. As my girls grow up they move into different phases of life and needs, and as I move forward in my passions and dreams, there are different things I want to learn about and know.
And I want it all organised into neat little pieces of information that I can see easily.
Even the number of apps and programs to help manage projects, to do lists and reminders added to my brain clutter, and it was frustrating and made me hugely unproductive.
I’m a quick thinker, so I wanted my information available and easy to find, so that I don’t lose my idea. But the way that I had kept everything wasn’t quick or easy. It was only a hindrance, a distraction, a time sucker, and it stopped me from getting things done.
I would forget things, and every time I wanted to repeat a task, I had to remember what to do.
One small example of this is Show & Tell for my daughter – something I always used to forget, and I had to keep the schedule somewhere for the whole term – usually on the kitchen bench or the fridge.
Another example is my Facebook Schedule. It used to be a cluttered process, so much so that it was crippling me. I hated Facebook because I couldn’t think of anything to say, it wasn’t meaningful, and I had just lost all inspiration to post. A case of so much to do and not knowing where or how to make it easier.
So these are 2 reasons why I created the Freedom Framework. I knew there must be an answer somewhere – somewhere that could manage ALL of the information I needed, and access it easily, in one place.
So now, for Show and Tell, I have a reminder that pops up and I can read the scanned in schedule, the day before we need it.
I don’t have to keep it in my brain anymore!
SHOW & TELL
Now, my Facebook scheduling and planning is so much simpler, and less cluttered. I can work on the schedule, know what I need and when, and track the engagement.
This has meant a huge amount of freedom for me. The pressure lifted when I started using my Freedom Framework for Facebook, and the structure and planning of it is there, I don’t have to remember it, and I don’t have the pressure of thinking every day what I need to post on FB.
The Freedom Framework is a life saver for me. It means I can just about become paper free. Don’t get me wrong – I love writing in beautiful notebooks, and I need a daily to do list. I still do that, and I’m not saying you shouldn’t stop using paper either.
The Freedom Framework manages information, saves time and de-clutters your brain from all of the things you have to remember, like:
- clothes sizes for your whole family
- passwords
- cute things your toddler says
- instagram image size vs pinterest image size
- the Facebook thread that had a link in it to a great new app
- the notes you took from the B-School Videos in Module 2
It’s a place to keep your brain un-cluttered, and one that you can trust to hold it all, and find it easily – whether you are online or offline! Kind of like the perfect wardrobe:
